Getting Help for Yourself or a Loved One

HELPLINE: Alcohol and other drug problems are treatable disorders. The decision to seek information and ask for help with an alcohol or other drug abuse problem for yourself or a loved one is not an easy one.  If you want to talk with a knowledgeable Information and Referral Specialist call 1-800-327-5050 or 617-292-5065. Youth Central Intake and Care Coordination (YCICC) is a special state of Massachusetts funded service organization helps parents and families access treatment programs specifically for teens. The Partnership at Drugfree.org  Parents Toll-Free Helpline 1-855-DRUGFREE (1-855-378-4373)  Monday to Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm ET Closed holidays.  Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed or have a specific question about your child’s drug or alcohol use? This Parents Toll-Free Helpline is a nationwide support service that offers assistance to parents and other primary caregivers of children who want to talk to someone about their child’s drug use and drinking. The Helpline is not a crisis line. If you do not connect with a parent specialist, please leave a message. If you are in need of immediate or emergency services please call 911 or a 24 hour crisis hotline. This service will connect you to a parent specialist who is a licensed social worker or psychologist with years of experience helping individuals and their families prevent and overcome substance abuse problems.

Sobriety Support for Yourself

 Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) provides a confidential forum to meet with a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. To learn more, visit Alcoholics Anonymous Boston.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA)  provides a confidential forum to meet with a fellowship of recovering addicts. Supporting a Loved One's Sobriety

Alateen/Alanon provides a confidential forum to meet with a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who come together to support each other in order to solve common problems. Allies in Recovery is an online-learning platform for families whose loved one struggles with drugs or alcohol. This website program provides community, personalized guidance, and a scientifically-proven program to give you the skill-set you’ll need to help your loved one. Visit Allies in Recovery for more. Learn to Cope  A peer-led support network for families dealing with addiction and recovery. Joanne Peterson founded Learn to Cope in 2004, with a small group of parents, when her own son became addicted to opiates. Her son is in long-term recovery today. What started then, as a single peer-to-peer support group in Randolph, Massachusetts, has grown to include nearly 3,000 members registered nationally. Families walk away from a meeting with resources and access to a support network.  Attend a meeting to receive a 54 page booklet “A Guide for Families Dealing with Addiction and Recovery”. Other Treatment Resources

INTERFACE Referral Service Helpline operates Monday-Friday from 9 AM- 5 PM, where callers from subscribing communities will work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health and substance misuse outpatient services. Each caller will be assigned a lead counselor who will provide matches to services, as well as provide information and resources about mental health and wellness. HELPLINE 888-244-6843 

Mass General Hospital ARMS program addiction clinicians give patients a comprehensive assessment to determine their level of substance use and any other contributing factors that may be present, including ADHD, depression, or other mental health issues. Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) at Children’s Hospital, located in Boston, provides a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, with three appointments scheduled over a one to three week period; treatment recommendations; and, referrals to services. Genesis Counseling located in Framingham, provides outpatient substance abuse treatment for adolescents, women, men, and families.  Among its services, Genesis provides: diagnostic alcohol/drug evaluations, Youth Substance Abuse Program (YoSAP), a three session educational format for teens, and ongoing substance abuse groups. YOU, Inc.’s Substance Abuse Outpatient Services (SOS) is an intensive outpatient adolescent substance abuse program in Worcester. The SOS Program is a 20-day intensive structured program that meets five days a week from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition, individual substance abuse counseling is provided on a weekly basis as needed by licensed clinicians.  Y.O.U., Inc. also provides a once weekly relapse prevention group for graduates of the SOS Program as well as a Parent Support Group open to all parents whose children are involved in Substance Abuse Services.
