Transportation Grant Announcement
The Hopkinton Senior Center has been awarded a generous grant from the Massachusetts Area Planning Council in partnership with MassDevelopment to provide much needed transportation assistance for medical appointments and essential shopping needs such as prescription pick ups and grocery shopping utilizing taxi companies.
If you are a Hopkinton resident 60 years of age and older, a veteran or individual homebound due to a disability, please call the Outreach Department at the Hopkinton Senior Center at least 3 business days in advance of your appointment at 508-497-9730 ext.1615 for assistance in scheduling a ride Monday through Friday between the hours of 9-3.
Strict safety guidelines are followed for sanitizing cabs, and mask wearing is required by both driver and passenger. This program will operate as funding permits. Rides are limited to twice a week.
**If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 per CDC guidelines, have tested positive for COVID-19 or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, we are unable to provide transportation through this program. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Senior Center.
Dial a Ride (Starting May 2021)
The MWRTA offers Dial A Ride to residents of Hopkinton aged 65 years and older, or under 65 years of age with a disability. This service is Monday through Friday. Some qualification restrictions may apply. For more information, please call the MWRTA Call Center at 508-820-4650. Market Basket: Stores open only to those 60 and over from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Roche Brothers: ALL locations will dedicate first hour of business, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. to customers 60+ as well as the disabled population.
Shaw's/Star Market: Stores will open early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for senior citizens and other at-risk members of the community.
Price Chopper: Stores only open to seniors from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Stop and Shop: All locations open at 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. daily for customers aged 60 and older only
Target: Reducing store hours and closing stores by 9:00 p.m. daily.

Dementia Friends is a public awareness program that sits under the broader umbrella of the age- and dementia friendly Massachusetts movement. Many dementia friendly community initiatives include Dementia Friends in order to spread awareness, reduce stigma and get more people involved.
